So….What are you waiting for?

SUMMER WORKSHOPS STARTING JULY 2019

Registration is now open for our next Students of Stand-up Comedy Workshops. As usual, we anticipate all workshops filling up quickly so don’t wait until the last minute to sign up. Class size is limited!

Our stand-up comedy workshops have been a part of the Orange County comedy scene since 2009 with many past graduates going on to perform at such venues as The Comedy Store, The Improv, and The Ice House, just to name a few.

Whether you’re looking to pursue a career in stand-up comedy, add humor to your personal or professional life, or just fulfill that last thing on your bucket list, our workshops offer something for everyone.

Currently we offer three workshops, each running six weeks. Our Stand-up Comedy 101 Workshop is geared for those new to stand-up comedy and focuses on things such as basic joke-writing skills, stage technique, and minimizing stage fright. For those who’ve been on stage a few times and are looking to take their material to the next level, we offer our Stand-up Comedy Writer’s Workshop. This workshop focuses on writing, punching up jokes, and tightening up both old and new material. In 2017 we added Stand-up 4 Kids, an entry level workshop open to those young people with a good sense of humor who enjoy being funny and making people laugh.

Whether you’re a “newbie” who has never been on stage before, or a comedian who just wants to add “more funny” to your set, we hope to see you at one of our upcoming workshops!

What Our Students Say…

He makes it work…

Afraid to try comedy?  Relax.  Nervous about what you might say or about getting up in front of others?  Relax.  Never done anything like this before?  No problem in Tom’s class.    Tom is kind, gentle, funny, encouraging and a master of comedy.  Through his class it will all come together.  He makes it work!

A great place to start…

What a great place to start if you are interested in comedy and performing! This class took something I thought I could do and made it something that I can do! Since this class I have already started a path of performing and am having a blast doing it!

This was a life changer…

The relaxed setting, and having the opportunity to unwind and share before digging in each week was great. It helped the process to get to know each other, to feel safe and I think it enhanced the process. The materials were comprehensive and the worksheets a fun tool to open up our creativity and get ideas flowing.
This was a life changer! Even if I never get up on stage again (although I REALLY want to) it was a growth experience like few others. Tom is a natural teacher with the perfect combination of patience, encouragement and the ability to critique while keeping even the most fragile of us (who shall remain nameless…) intact. He’s funny as hell too!

I saw a huge improvement in confidence on stage…

Tom taught me how to organize my thoughts in outline and how to “unpack” my jokes getting his feed back and structure was huge for me. After only one session, he had helped me focus my efforts and thoughts on paper. I saw a huge improvement in confidence on stage as the class progressed. Tom was patient, easy to understand, highly intelligent, punctual, and flexible during our writing sessions. Your future self will thank you!  Thanks Tom!

Provided thoughtful feedback…

Tom created an environment that maximized our abilities to be creative and provided thoughtful feedback to all material. This is one of the few experiences in life that I would love to relive.

Classes are informative…

What a great experience! Write your own stuff, workshop it and perform it live? Great! The classes are informative and, most of all, fun! The people you work with are all cheering for you to be your best. I can’t wait to take the next class. Thanks Tom!
